Heinkel He 178 V-2

1
The Heinkel He 178 with E. Warsitz at the controls took off for the first time on 24 August 1939, while the real maiden flight took place three days later.
This was the first flight of a jet aircraft in the world.
On 1 November 1939, the aircraft was demonstrated to RLM officials as part of the continuation trials.
Later, the aircraft received a more powerful HeS 6 engine, a wing with a larger wingspan and retractable running gear. This version is referred to by some sources as the He 178V-2.
