Bell AH-1G Cobra "Marines / US Navy"

The AH-1G Cobra was the very first helicopter designed primarily for ground attack.
AH-1G Cobras saw their first combat action in Vietnam in 1967.
The early machines can be recognized by the tail rotor mounted on the port side, later ones had the usual configuration of the tail rotor on the starboard side.
The AH-1G became the first member of a family of attack helicopters that are still in service today.
The US Marine Corps and Navy had far fewer AH-1G Cobras than the US Army.
And yet the Marine Cobras fought in Vietnam.
