The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk/Kittyhawk fighter aircraft were an important part of the USAAF and other Allied air forces throughout the war. I
n many different subtypes, the P-40 fought on every battlefield of World War II.
The P-40F and L airframes are distinguished from other P-40 versions by the engine, as they were the only ones equipped with the British RR Merlin.
They were used in Africa, Italy and the Pacific. These Fs and Ls became most famous during the Torch Allied landings in Africa.
