It was available as a roadster and a fastback coupe - introduced in March 1965.
The S600 was the first Honda to be available in two trim levels.
During production until 1966, the model design remained almost unchanged, with the main changes being made to the grille, bumper and headlights.
The S600 produced 57 horsepower from a 606cc 4-cylinder DOHC engine that held its own compared to racing engines and featured a chain-driven, motorcycle-style rear-wheel drive system.
Exports to Europe followed as the S600 quickly gained popularity as a sports car.
