The M10 was an American tank destroyer of World War II.
After the US entered World War II and the formation of the Tank Destroyer Force, a suitable vehicle was needed to outfit the new battalions.
It was numerically the most important US tank destroyer of World War II.
It combined thin but sloped armor with the M4 Sherman's reliable powertrain and a fairly powerful anti-tank gun in an open-topped turret.
Many of the vehicles were lend-leased to the British Army, Canada and the Free French Forces.
After the war, many of these TDs were supplied as military aid to countries like Belgium, Denmark and the Netherlands through the Mutual Defense Assistance Act.
Some countries like Israel or the Republic of China got them in other ways.
