Republic P-47D Thunderbolt "Razorback"

The P-47 was the first single-seat fighter to be equipped with a supercharger and a 2,000 horsepower engine, allowing it to fly at the same altitude as bombers.
Armed with eight 12.7mm machine guns, the Thunderbolt, along with the P-51 Mustang, formed the main fighter aircraft of the US Army Air Force.
The early production P-47D was nicknamed the “Razorback” due to the shape of its upper fuselage behind the cockpit.
The P-47D was a fast, fighter aircraft and escorted the Allied bombers carrying out attacks on Germany. Its 1 tonne payload and robustness made the Thunderbolt the perfect aircraft for ground attack missions.
