The Horten Ho 229A was a flying wing made of plywood with jet engines, which was intended to be used as a single-seat light bomber (and later also) as a fighter aircraft. The first prototype was a glider without engines. The second prototype already had the planned jet engines, but was lost during a test. The third prototype was captured by the American forces almost completed towards the end of the war. This example can still be seen today in the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. A two-seat version as an all-weather fighter was also planned, but the prototype was never completed.
