Polish PL-01 Prototype light tank

PL-01 is a light main battle tank designed by the Polish company OBRUM with the support of BAE Systems from Great Britain, based on the Swedish light tank Granatkastarpansarbandvagn (Grkpbv) 90120. The vehicle was first presented on September 2, 2013 at the International Defence Industry Exhibition in Kielce.
As the main weapon, the PL-01 can be fitted with either a 105mm or a 120mm cannon in the unmanned turret. The cannon can fire both conventional projectiles and anti-tank missiles. It has an automatic loader that ensures a rate of fire of 6 shots per minute. The vehicle has a combat load of 45 rounds, of which 12 or 16 are stored in the turret and ready to fire. The rest are in the hull. The tank is also armed with a 7.62 UKM-2000C machine gun with 1000 rounds.
A weapon station can be fitted as additional equipment. This can be fitted with a 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine gun or a 40mm grenade launcher. An active protection system that can detect and destroy incoming rockets and grenade launchers is also built into the turret.
The armour consists of composite armour and additional armour in a bulkhead design. It is also possible to equip the vehicle with reactive armour. The vehicle has a fire suppression system in the turret and in the hull, a battlefield management system, an exhaust gas cooling system, a heat dissipation system and an air conditioning system. The crew has special seats to minimise the physical effects of nearby explosions and mine explosions. In addition, the vehicle can be equipped with a satellite navigation system and a friend-foe identification system. It is powered by a 940 hp diesel engine.
