Douglas A-20B/ C Havoc "Gunships’"

The American A-20 Havoc light bombers and ground attack aircraft and their Boston variant used by the Commonwealth were among the most important types of this category in World War II.
They were used in almost every theatre of operations. To be suitable for the low-level ground attack role, they were often converted to carry machine guns in the forward fuselage, known as gunships.
That version is now the subject of this kit, which offers one US machine as it flew over Africa and one as it served in the Pacific. The latter almost had a double life, which is faithfully reflected in the decal sheet. During its thirteenth mission, it was hit by enemy anti-aircraft fire and written off after a crash landing. However, as it turns out, the machine was repaired by local ground crew and then used to deliver food and spirits from mainland Australia to New Guinea.
