"Flying Tigers" Curtiss Hawk 81-A2 (P-40)

Einloggen und Bewertung schreiben
The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk was an American single-engine, single-seat, all-metal fighter and ground attack aircraft that first flew in 1938.
The Flying Tigers, officially known as the 1st American Volunteer Group (AVG), were a Chinese Air Force unit recruited from U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Army aviators.
Compared to opposing Japanese fighters, the P-40's strengths were that it was rugged, well-armed, faster in dives, and had excellent roll speed.
While the P-40 could not match the maneuverability of the Japanese Army Air Force's Nakajima Ki-27 or Ki-43 in slow, turning dogfights, nor the much more famous Zero naval fighters, the P-40 was more than a match at higher speeds.
