The Hawker Hurricane was the most widely used fighter aircraft in the British Royal Air Force at the start of the Second World War.
It made a decisive contribution to the RAF's victory during the Battle of Britain, but over the course of the war it gradually had to give up its role as a fighter to the much more modern Spitfire.
The Hurricane, however, gradually changed its role with new versions and very specific equipment.
