Dassault SMB-2 Super Mystère Sa’ar "Israeli Storm"

Einloggen und Bewertung schreiben
The first prototype of the Dassault Super Mystère B.1, powered by a Rolls-Royce Avon RA.7R, made its maiden flight on 2 March 1954, breaking the sound barrier the following day in straight flight.

The aircraft went into production in 1957 as the Super Mystère B2 (also known as SMB2).
The production version differed from the prototype by a more powerful SNECMA Atar 101G engine.
A total of 180 were built.

From 1973, the Israeli Air Force upgraded with a version of the Pratt & Whitney J52-P8A without afterburner, an extended jet pipe and new avionics.
In Israeli service, these upgraded SMB2s were also known as IAI Sa'ar (Hebrew for "storm").
