Supermarine Spitfire Mk. IIa „RAF“
KPM72302
Kovozavody Prostejov
1:72
It was designed by the brilliant British designer Reginald J. Mitchell and first flew on 5 March 1936.
It was an advanced single-seat low-wing monoplane with a very smooth flush-riveted metal skin and a long, flowing front cowling.
The very pronounced elliptically shaped wing helped reduce parasitic drag and allowed a relatively thin wing design.
It carried a large coolant radiator under the starboard wing and a small oil cooler under the port wing, giving it an asymmetrical appearance when viewed from the front and below.
The MK.II's most significant change from the MK.I was the improved 1175 hp Merlin XII engine.
