Supermarine Spitfire PR. Mk.XI „D-Day"

Einloggen und Bewertung schreiben
The Supermarine Spitfire is considered by many to be the most aesthetically designed single-seat fighter of World War II.
It was designed by the brilliant British designer Reginald J. Mitchell and first flew on 5 March 1936.
It was an advanced single-seat low-wing monoplane with a very smooth flush-riveted metal skin and a long, flowing front cowling.
The very pronounced elliptically shaped wing helped reduce parasitic drag and allowed a relatively thin wing design.
The reconnaissance version PR Mk XI (PR stands for Photo-Reconnaissance) was based on the Mk VII with a camera installation.
