Wiesel A1 TOW (1:16)

In 1975, development of an air-transportable weapon carrier began. Development was initially stopped in 1978, but resumed in 1981.
The contract for a fast tracked vehicle with various weapon systems was not awarded to MAK until 1988, which led to the introduction of the Wiesel into the German armed forces in 1990.
In addition to the Wiesel with the Mk20, the TOW weapon system was introduced on the Wiesel 1.
The commander is also the gunner and operates the launch system of the TOW-2 launcher.
The aiming range is ±45° to the side and ±10° in height.
A total of 7 missiles are available, 6 of which are stored in the vehicle.
The TOW system is equipped with the AN/TAS 4 thermal imaging device and is therefore suitable for night combat.
With a weight of 2.75t, a length of 3.31m, a width of 1.89m and a height of 1.82m, for example, 2 pieces can be transported in the medium transport helicopter CH-53.
The 87hp engine can accelerate the vehicle to around 80km/h, the operational range is around 200km. The crew consists of a driver, a loader and a commander who also operates the weapon.
